Last Minute Price Increase for Polyco Healthline Due to Coronavirus

Dear Customer,

The sudden increase in global cases of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) and the response of Governments around the world has generated unprecedented demand for medical consumables.

This is leading to demand outweighing supply causing manufacturers to be oversold and in turn increase their prices. Supply from our suppliers is more important to us currently than price. This is unlike any situation we have previously experienced and doesn’t relate to changes in raw material costs or currency fluctuation.

This has left us with no option but to pass on these increases as follows:

With Immediate Effect

All back orders for face masks will be cancelled and we will advise when stock is available again.

15th March 2020

Prices of all disposable PPE workwear will increase by 20% – This is due to all these products being

manufactured in the shutdown areas in the Hubei region Of China. Stock is limited and information on future arrival dates is difficult to obtain and unlikely to be achieved. Stock will be prioritised for regular customers.

1st April 2020

Vinyl disposable gloves – 10% increase

Nitrile disposable gloves – 5% increase

Latex disposable gloves – 5% increase

Aprons – 5% increase

As with any price increases, we consider them very seriously and only request them when completely necessary as we know it causes significant disruption. That is why we are not requesting increases in any of our other product categories.

Unfortunately, as this virus moves around the world, we can’t guarantee that supply of other products won’t be affected, and further increases may be needed.

As one of the largest suppliers of these products in Europe, we have a global supply chain that will enable us to manage the current market situation. However, as we are currently experiencing unprecedented demand on some lines, we will not be able to supply any additional volumes. We are also expecting to have periods of out of stocks on some products over the coming months.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused but in the current climate we are prioritising ongoing supply over everything else.

If you have any questions regarding our pricing changes, please contact your Area Sales Manager.

With thanks from the Polyco Healthline Team.

Makita Introduces New Cordless 18V LXT Top Handle Chainsaw Designed For Forestry Professionals

  • Prioritising operator safety
  • Chain speed and performance equal to a petrol machine
  • Lightweight and compact
  • Brushless motor for longer run time and increased power

Makita chainsaws have gained a high reputation amongst forestry professionals with models that are renowned for power, performance, rugged reliability and value.  The new Makita DUC254Z 18V Brushless Top Handle Chainsaw LXT is no exception.  With a single 18V Lithium-Ion battery it generates a 570 watt output providing ample power to run the 3/8th inch chain over the 25cm bar at up to 24 metres per second matching the performance of a petrol machine.  The Brushless motor ensures longer runtime, substantially greater power and lower maintenance.

Setting an industry benchmark this new model features the main power switch with Auto-Off function making it one of the safest chainsaws on the market.  It automatically turns the machine off if the operator does not grip the lock-off lever within 10 seconds of turning the machine on.  Equally, the Auto-Off function kicks in if the operator does not trigger the switch within one minute, even if the lock-off lever is gripped.  And again, if the operator does not grip the lock-off lever within 10 seconds after releasing the lock-off lever the Auto-Off function takes control.  Classified as a top-handle model this chainsaw should only be used by trained and certificated professionals.

Light and compact, weighing just 2.8kg, this cordless machine is designed for operators when climbing and for single handed use, and is ideal for tree pruning.  Neatly packaged with a sturdy hand-grip the DUC254Z features a variable speed control trigger, electric chain brake and kickback brake.  This model also provides a soft start function which accelerates the motor into action reducing the sudden torque load on start up.  Sold as body only, this LXT chainsaw has an oil capacity display, hanging hook and captive nuts.

Makita’s cordless chainsaws offer low noise in operation, low vibrations for operator protection and comfort, zero emissions to protect the environment and unbeatable charge times.  The Makita range of cordless and 2-stroke chainsaws is comprehensive to cover the needs of professional users and industry applications with selected models being the product of choice of the British Army and are used by specialist disaster relief charity DART International UK.

Makita's New Factory Service Centre Opens In London

Makita UK has opened a third regional Factory Service Centre (FSC) in the busy London borough of Hounslow.  This new FSC joins Makita’s HQ facility in Milton Keynes, which serves the whole of the country, as well as Glasgow, which supports the rapidly expanding market penetration of the brand in Scotland and northern England.  The London FSC will primarily service the essential London and South East region.  In order to offer the best service levels in the industry Makita is committed to offering improved national coverage for the benefit of end user customers, as well as the network of Makita distributors, by building these dedicated FSC’s.

While these facilities satisfy a vital role in providing technical repairs and maintenance services for all mains and cordless construction machines, and the rapidly expanding range of grounds care tools, including 2-stroke and 4-stroke petrol engine products, training remains the cornerstone of Makita’s marketing success.  It ensures that both authorised distributors and operators are fully conversant with the power tools they own, or may purchase in the future; how to obtain the best and safest performance from these machines, and how to maintain them for efficiency and productivity.

The first FSC to be opened is based at South Street, Glasgow, which offers Makita product training across the complete range of products; product servicing courses, as well as accredited courses such as the successful and certificated City & Guilds Correct & Safe Use of Handheld Power Tools.  A user or instructor certificate is issued upon successful completion.  Courses are available to meet individual needs and bespoke power tool training can be designed to meet specific requirements.

At each location the theory elements of courses are held in a lecture theatre, followed by essential hands-on practical work which is carried out in specially adapted and fully equipped training demonstration rooms.  Courses are of 1 or 2 day duration or tailored to specific needs.  The CITB certificated course, which can include a combination of in-house and on-site training, relates to abrasive wheel training, and both instructor or user courses are available.  Gas nailer user training, chainsaw cross cutting and service courses are also available.

Tony Coleman, Technical Manager, Makita UK, says: “We are already receiving a very warm welcome from all sectors of the power tool industry in this heavily populated area of west London.  If demand becomes similar to that we’ve established in Glasgow and Milton Keynes we will be looking for additional training personnel.  Both employers and operators will benefit from this convenient location offering improved local services to all customers.”

Makita has great experience in supporting worthwhile challenges as WorldSkills UK, APL Apprenticeships and Hire Association Europe Apprenticeship schemes to help support customers of the future with product and training support.  Employees and employers can benefit from Makita’s outstanding training courses, which compliment high quality power tools used by professional trades’ people, raising ambitions and abilities for many.

The Makita range is supported with an equally comprehensive range of over 4,500 accessories and consumables products.

Makita's Twin 18V LXT Angle Drill Exceeds Mains Delivery And Makes Tough Tasks Look Effortless

  • High performance angle drill meets mains delivery with additional benefits
  • BL motor for longer runtime and performance
  • Many advanced technologies and features
  • Ideal for larger timber and steel constructions

Makita has launched its first cordless twin 18V LXT Brushless Angle Drill featuring all the power and performance of a mains machine whilst benefiting from the freedom and manoeuvrability that only a battery powered tool can provide.  The mighty DDA460ZK is powered by two Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries giving 36V power from the Brushless motor which not only massively extends runtime but substantially increases power.

This new angle drill has a no-load speed of up to 1400rpm in Hi mode and 350rpm in Lo with variable speed control by trigger action.  An auger bit of maximum 50mm diameter will make light work of drilling holes in oak beams, even through the toughest knots.  This rugged and intelligent mechanical 2-speed machine has a chuck capacity of 2 – 13mm capable of drilling up to 13mm in steel; 118mm in Lo and 65mm in Hi mode when using a self-feed bit in wood or with a hole saw, 159mm in Lo and 105mm in Hi mode.  The addition of Automatic Torque Drive Technology (ADT), literally automatically adjusts the drilling speed according to the load conditions to achieve optimum drilling performance, while the auto power-off function automatically shuts down, or times-out, if the trigger is not pulled for five minutes.

This body only machine features an electric brake and the soft start function. This accelerates the motor into action even if the trigger is pulled fully home from Off.  In drilling mode soft start reduces the sudden torque load on start up.  In operation the torque limiter will cut the motor drive should the drill bit snag, so providing further operator protection.  The front handle can be installed in any position within 0 – 112.5° for maximum user comfort, control and accessibility in confined spaces.

The capacity of the new Twin 18V DDA460ZK LXT Angle Drill will make the toughest tasks completely effortless, including drilling roof trusses, barn conversions and even large steel structures above the open seas.

New Range of Ambersil Dusters & Freezer

Ambersil benefits from five new products that meet the F-Gas regulation, ensuring product availability and best-in-class performance.

Why the need for change?

The F-Gas regulation (EU517/2014) prohibits the placing onto the market any product with acalculated global warming potential (GWP) greater

than 150. The standard measure of GWP is based on Carbon Dioxide (CO2) which has a GWP of 1.

Traditional Dusters and Freezers used a liquified propellant with a GWP of 1,430. This no longer complies with regulations for continued supply.

The new products utilise the latest available technologies to deliver the best results and meetspecific end-user requirements.

For more information regarding the regulation changes, please request a copy of our F-Gas brochure from Customer Services – 01278 727272

New Range Of Welders And Plasma Cutters From Draper Tools

With a wide base of professional automotive users and home-based hobbyists, welding continues to offer many market opportunities.

Now retailers can make even more of those opportunities with a new, expanded range of welding and cutting products from Draper Tools.  16 new welders and 2 new plasma cutters have just been launched, together with a host of essential welding accessories and consumables.

Investing in the latest workshop equipment

Draper Tools continues to invest in bringing you and your customers the latest innovations and in demand equipment for the workshop. The new company’s machines come in a variety of welding applications, which are ideal for those who weld professionally as well for enthusiasts. These include:

  • ARC Welders
  • MMA Inverters
  • MIG Welders
  • MIG Inverters
  • TIG Welders
  • Multi Process Welders
  • Plasma Cutters
  • A range of accessories and consumables such as torches, torch tips, shrouds and wires

Delivering maximum performance

Draper Tools has invested heavily in technology to ensure its new range of welders offer maximum performance. Many of its welders are marked with DTi, meaning they feature additional ‘Digital Technology Inside’. These machines have settings controlled digitally by micro-processors rather than analogue buttons.  The result is a more intelligent machine, which can handle more settings and therefore offer more functions to the user. DTi also provides exception levels of control and precision, and a more stable signal – all of which results in a better performing machine and a smoother, faster weld.

The new range also includes welders featuring modern inverter technology, which replaces a traditional transformer. Inverter models of welder can be just as powerful but significantly more efficient and, as a result, far smaller and easier to carry around. Their efficiency means they are a more environmentally friendly option for the workshop too.

Whether your customers have got aluminium to weld, heavy duty fabrication work to do, vehicle body or chassis repairs, they’ll find the right welder for the job in Draper’s new range. Designed to be a one-stop shop for a range of welding projects, Draper Tools has also produced a handy guide to welders available at www.drapertools.com/welders.

Ordering has never been easier

To see the complete new range, with a guide to the different kinds of welders visit www.drapertools.com/welders.

New Regional Sales Manager at DART Tool Group

A very welcome addition to the DART Team is a new Regional Sales Manager for the South East region. Adie Walker has been in the industry for more than twenty years with a varied and rich background across numerous roles.

Adie worked in Harrison & Clough many years ago as a Regional Sales Manager then after a few years moved on to Milwaukee Power Tools, which provided him great exposure to the power tools industry and confirmed his ongoing love for ‘big boys toys’ as he calls them!

Then he moved in to a role as General Manager in Invicta Tools, which involved working on the other side of the counter and within a merchants – in this time, he helped to build their sales team and project managed an extension for their warehouse – giving him great insights of the industry. Then latterly he worked for Folkstone Fixings as Sales Manager and building their sales team, managing trade shows, doing branch management and again building their warehouse capabilities.

However, Adie says on his new position in DART ‘I love being this side of the industry – selling in to the merchant trade. It’s a real awakening for me to come back to it now – it’s where my passion lies. To be out on the road, selling products I love, for a company with such a great ethos is a fantastic opportunity’

When asked what attracted him to DART he says ‘I had followed the DART brand for the last ten years and could see they were a company that were going in the right direction – they are constantly moving forward and it’s obvious that they are always innovating. The new DART brand particularly caught my eye’

Adie certainly has plenty of energy and describes himself as optimistic, enthusiastic and happy.  His plan for his new role is to hit the ground running, with plans to visit the customers in his area as soon as possible – especially dormant accounts, as he sees immense potential in the region.

What’s more, Adie has a poignant personal achievement that not many of us can claim – he saved a person’s life! A family member had a motorbike accident while on holiday in Bali and needed to be urgently flown back to the UK. Adie rapidly raised funds within the community to get him flown back by air ambulance, and on transition had to make a life or death decision when he took a turn for the worse in transition – of whether to continue with the flight or to land – both with unknown prospects. Thankfully to all – Adie made the decision that saved his life – so amongst his wealth of experience is excellent decision making!

In Adie’s free time, he enjoys a daily early morning walk with his dog, enjoys a spot of fishing and is a bit of a thrill seeker, with having braved bungee jumping, sky diving and paragliding.

For all those that meet Adie, it won’t come as a surprise that his personal mantra is ‘Stand Tall, Be Proud and Stay Strong’. DART is certainly very excited to have him on board and with his extensive knowledge of the industry, he will be a great help to his customers.
